Extra Curricular Activities
- Choir
- The Arroyo Vista Charter School choir is made up of students from grades 4, 5 and 6 who are interested in singing in a performance group. We practice twice a week, and we are often invited to perform at local community events such as the annual Barnes and Noble Book Store fundraising event, holiday caroling at the EastLake Village Walk, the KUSI TV holiday program, and the Spring Easter event at The Woods, the annual AVCS volunteer luncheon and the AVCS spring choir performance.
- Junior Robotics
- Jr Robotics allows students in 2nd and 3rd grade to explore building and programming robots at an elementary level. Students get an introduction to basic programming as they establish team working and problem solving skills.
- Military Club
- We are very excited to announce the start of the AVCS Military Pride Club for the 2018-2019 school year! We have a strong military presence on campus, and we believe this is something to celebrate. Our vision for the club is to bring together students of military families of all kinds. We aim to build friendship and community, while also giving support to the students of Arroyo Vista, and their families. We will be meeting after school once a month to work on prideful activities, build friendships, and to bring our military pride to our school in many ways throughout the year.
- Roots and Shoots
- Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots is the youth-led community action and learning program of the Jane Goodall Institute. The program builds on the legacy and vision of Dr. Jane Goodall to place the power and responsibility for creating community-based solutions to big challenges in the hands of the young people. Through the program, young people map their community to identify specific challenges their neighborhoods face. From there, they prioritize the problems, develop a plan for a solution, and take action. Our young members are part of a wave of change across the globe for people, animals and the environment. It is when the minds and hearts of many come together and act as one that we achieve measurable change and lasting impact for our future. At Arroyo Vista, we meet once a month to learn about our environment, volunteer for our community, and make changes in our school and world.
