Those students in person, will take their tests at school, and those in Distance Learning will be taking it with their teacher on line. These local measures are the only tests your child will be taking. As previously announced, State Testing has been cancelled this year. Please be sure your child gets a good night’s sleep as well as eats a healthy breakfast. It is important to remember not to help your child with any answers. These tests help us determine what your child knows, and where to begin next year when we are all back together! CVESD Local Assessment Parent Notification Arroyo Vista will be administering Our Local District Summative Assessment from May 17th through June 4th.
Residency VerificationOn June 1st, the district will launch the new platform for the Verification of Residency and update important information for returning students for the 2021 – 22 school year. It will be imperative that you complete. We will also be updating ALL emails to ensure you receive school and district email notifications. Your child will not be placed on a class list if verification of residency is not completed. Library BooksThe library is now closed for inventory. Please return all library books. You can return them during drop off and pick up. Students can give books to their teachers or drop them at the office window. Thank you! Returning to school if you reported your child absent due to being sick:Please note, that we must follow the county decision tree before your child can come back on to campus. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the school nurse. PTA Ice Cream Drive ThruReturning Computers, iPads, and WiFi HotspotsArroyo Vista Parents/Guardians: As this school year is coming to an end, we are preparing to fully open in July 2021 (assuming no COVID setbacks). Part of the preparation is the return of all school devices (laptops, iPads, hotspots, etc.) checked out to students for distance learning. The schedule for dropping off all devices is as follows: Tuesday, June 15th: 12 pm – 2 pm 5th and 6th grades 2 pm - 4 pm 7th and 8th grades Wednesday, June 16th: 9 am - 11 am 3rd and 4th grades 11 am - 1 pm 1st and 2nd grades 1 pm – 2 pm TK and Kindergarten If you have more than one student with a school device, feel free to drop all devices off at one time. If your student has a device and, does not need it at this time, please feel free drop if off prior to June 15th at the office. Remember that distance learning will be taking place for ALL students on June 15th. For any unreturned or damaged devices invoices will be mailed. Family Resource CentersFamily Resource Centers (FRCs) of the Chula Vista Community Collaborative are here to help students and their families in a safe environment and in a confidential manner, including housing rental arrears or future rent increase/utility bill assistance and other related programs. California’s high cost of living puts many in the 50-80% range. Adults whose spouse/partner may have had reduced hours or been laid off may find these programs especially helpful. The CVCC FRCs are currently collaborating on several projects and are available to assist families. Here are some areas they can help you explore:
Dear Parent/Guardian: PLEASE NOTE that Tuesday, June 15, 2021 will be a distance learning day, meaning that no in-person instruction takes place on this date. This schedule for this day will mirror our Friday minimum-day instructional schedule. End of Year TestingAs the end of the year quickly approaches, we are preparing to administer end-of-year assessments to all our Coyotes to see how they have progressed this year. We will not administer CAASPP assessments this year, but we will administer Local Measures assessments, All students will be assessed in language arts and mathematics. Our local measures District assessments are Smarty Ants TK-2nd, Achieve 3000/Level Set for grades 2nd – 6th, and iReady for grades Kinder – 6th Grade. Please encourage your children to use these technology accelerators daily as we approach the end-of-year testing window. Teachers will be letting you know the dates of your child’s assessments. Your child will be assessed in class if they are in-person and at home with the teacher proctoring the assessment, if they are in Distance Learning. A Test Proctor is a person who ensures the identity of the test taker and the integrity of the test-taking environment. Distance Learning Guardians: It is VERY important that these assessments are what your child knows and can do at the time of the test. It is not a time to help. Please encourage your child to do the best they can do. “Your teacher wants to see how much you have learned not how much I know. It is okay if you don’t know, you are only in ____ grade just do the best you can. You will learn it soon.” Residency Verification for the 2021-22 School YearParents of returning students….be sure to save your residency proof invoices because residency verification time will soon be upon us! The invoice showing the parent/guardian’s name, address, and a date of May 24th or later must be included on the invoice that you provide.
