Residency Verification for the 2021-22 School Year Residency verification is underway for current students at enrolled in Arroyo Vista. Parents/guardians should have received an email with information on how to complete this process. If you did not receive this information in your email, please contact our school office. CVESD Virtual Academy Information: The CVESD Virtual Academy is a voluntary pilot program developed in alignment with state education proposals, which assume a return to full-time in-person instruction for the 2021-22 school year. The Virtual Academy is not a stop-gap program for families reluctant about resuming in-person instruction. “Success in independent study requires motivation and a strong commitment on the part of the student and, especially for a young student, his or her parents/guardians/caregivers. It also requires sufficient academic preparation to enable the student to work independently.” (California Department of Education, 2020. Parents/guardians must apply for enrollment during the application window. Applications to the CVESD Virtual Academy must be submitted online by 5 p.m. June 7. Monday, May 31 – No School in honor of Memorial Day Residency VerificationResidency verification will take place online this year. All students returning to any school in the Chula Vista Elementary School District for the 2021/22 school year are required to show proof of residency at their school of attendance before the start of school in order for their child’s name to be placed on a class list. If you have moved out of our area, and would like to continue at Arroyo Vista, you must contact the office to receive a Zone Transfer document. You will be receiving an email that will contain a unique “Snap Code” for each of your children enrolled at Arroyo Vista and a link to the website where you will be able to update information for your child and upload your residency for the 21/22 school year. You will only receive and email if you have a valid email on file at Arroyo Vista. If your email has recently changed, or if you do not receive emails from the district, please call the office to update your information. We will begin sending the “Snap Codes” the week of June 1st. Please make sure to check your emails so that you may complete this promptly. If you have not received your email by June 11th, please contact the school office. Thank you! Those students in person, will take their tests at school, and those in Distance Learning will be taking it with their teacher on line. These local measures are the only tests your child will be taking. As previously announced, State Testing has been cancelled this year. Please be sure your child gets a good night’s sleep as well as eats a healthy breakfast. It is important to remember not to help your child with any answers. These tests help us determine what your child knows, and where to begin next year when we are all back together! Family Resource CentersFamily Resource Centers (FRCs) of the Chula Vista Community Collaborative are here to help students and their families in a safe environment and in a confidential manner, including housing rental arrears or future rent increase/utility bill assistance and other related programs. End of Year TestingAs the end of the year quickly approaches, we are preparing to administer end-of-year assessments to all our Coyotes to see how they have progressed this year. We will not administer CAASPP assessments this year, but we will administer Local Measures assessments, All students will be assessed in language arts and mathematics. Our local measures District assessments are Smarty Ants TK-2nd, Achieve 3000/Level Set for grades 2nd – 6th, and iReady for grades Kinder – 6th Grade. Please encourage your children to use these technology accelerators daily as we approach the end-of-year testing window. Teachers will be letting you know the dates of your child’s assessments. Your child will be assessed in class if they are in-person and at home with the teacher proctoring the assessment, if they are in Distance Learning. A Test Proctor is a person who ensures the identity of the test taker and the integrity of the test-taking environment. Distance Learning Guardians: It is VERY important that these assessments are what your child knows and can do at the time of the test. It is not a time to help. Please encourage your child to do the best they can do. “Your teacher wants to see how much you have learned not how much I know. Dear Arroyo Vista Families, Here are some important reminders for the upcoming week: CVESD COVID-19 Testing Program – Thursday, April 29th 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM, with no testing from 12:15 PM - 12:45 PM If you would like your student to be tested for COVID-19 through the Chula Vista Elementary School District testing program, please register/provide consent by using the personalized link that was sent to you on Friday, April 16th from the CVESD Office of Communications. If you have already registered your student, you do not need to register again. Testing at Arroyo Vista will occur on Thursday, April 29th. Appointments are NOT required any longer. Your child can walk-in to test. If you have more than one student at CVESD, you should have received an email/text with the link to register each student. Again, links are personalized. COVID Protocols for Hybrid Students As our students have returned to campus, we wanted to remind our community about the procedures we follow if student present COVID-like symptoms and need to be kept home or sent home from school.
